Anne Ursu's ''Spilling Clarence''

"Imagine living in a small community and unexpectedly, an outbreak of something inexplicable happens."

A special book review of Anne Ursu's "Spilling Clarence"

Didn't expect this book to be this good. The story is kind of simple, but I liked it! Imagine living in a small community and unexpectedly, an outbreak of something inexplicable happens. Today's world can relate to this book since we are currently facing the pandemic, but it differs from the fatality as the spilled chemical/element they called "deletrium" doesn't kill, but it somewhat makes you feel depressed. Still not good, of course. Also, it only circles inside the small community of Clarence.

I think it's perfect for me because I overthink a lot and am fond of imagining things from the past (cause I'm krazy lol). But I'm all better now!

So imagine that the outbreak causes people to look back at the past. Most especially your regrets! Now most of the adults in your town are all emotional and depressed because of that spill and it's like the town turned upside down! You get to live up your memories a second time with the person you love who's actually already gone. The time didn't just stop but was running backward. However, despite the situation they are all in and how each of them is affected by the epidemic, it didn't stop them from communicating and showing each other love and care. Some were acting nonchalant, especially when in front of the person they love to show their support even though they were also being inflicted with that something.

I think the best lesson in this book is to never stop showing your love and care to the person you love especially in times of annihilation. And whenever you're struggling, you can always ask for help, and there's no wrong with doing that. And most of all, be strong and believe that nothing's permanent, that everything's going to be alright. In time.
